& The 2 Car Garage
Alex Smith and The 2 Car Garage were formed in the small East Texas town of Palestine. It all started in among other things, a 2 car garage. Alex had been playing and writing tunes for years, and was tired of the cover band scene and wanted the oppurtunity to showcase his original material. His brother-in-law Russell McClendon, who at one time ran the board in one of Alex's previous bands, signed on to play bass. The next addition was a recent transplant to Texas via West Virgina, Stefan Cotter. He brought his Reggae/Delta Blues/Mountain Sound influences, and added a new element to the project. The drummer Alan Wade and Alex were introduced at a local bar, and he agreed to jam with the trio at un upcoming show the next night. Alan, who had recently been a member of an area blues band, jumped at the chance to join a creative and fun group of guys. Since the four members have been together they have created and released their debut album, "Its All Good Under The Hood". Its a combination of Texas-inspired Blues/Country/Rock with a raw, swampy edge. The release is a compilation of Alex's song writing, an overall band influence, and Stefan's engineering. It is the basic form of what a garage band should sound like, with a Texas twist. Brad Hopson came along shortly after to play guitar. His blues-inspired riffs and dark tones are like the final pieces to a puzzle. Always looking for shows and beers to drink, the guys have a good band and a good time!
