Bad Bob ”PRAIRIE ROSE” ©2007 Independently released Review by Lucky Boyd Hey, I want to hear some great western and bluegrass themed music with great fiddle, outstanding banjo, my buddy Ed Starkey on bass (way to go, Ed), fantastic dobro, and a host of masterful pickers. Hey, that’s what I’m listening to right now! It’s good to see some old friends again like Bert Wills (yep) and Joe Kirkpatrick teaming up with Bad Bob on this great 2007 release. Bad Bob Rohan pens a few and covers a few on this twelve-cut treasure. Rohan uses traditional sounds and takes advantage of the technology out there to create a modern Texas album with an old feel. You will marvel at the instrumental tracks on this disc including “Over The Rainbow” (yep) and “Sweet Georgia Brown” (yep). What a great selection of songs! The zydeco-like “Ballad of Harry Choates” collects a unique cast of pickers for the single cut. You’ll love the swing track “Four Five Time.” It’s easy to tell that Bad Bob records and plays for the love of the music as the fun seems to shine through on every cut. This is Rohan’s best work to date and is worthy of your perusal. So, give a listen and become the newest Bad Bob fan. Previous notes: Sometimes a little Hank, sometimes a little Waylon, but all the time Texas, Bad Bob Rohan explodes with his fiddle and his voice. Rohan delivers a traditional Country / Western sound with some Texas Swing built right in. His 2001 release "BAD BOB AND HIS GOOD FRIENDS" is full of surprises and wonderful guests. Each cut is expertly performed and Rohan penned nine of the tracks on the disc. Rohan's earlier release "BAD BOB" is also available and features his acclaimed version of "Orange Blossom Special."
