Brad Brown and Buck Two 98
Brad Brown started performing in Houston coffee houses and restaurants, and went from there to performing with bands in Houston, College Station, and Iowa. Back in Texas for the past 15 years, Brown has been playing coffee bars, festivals, and private parties. Brown performs solo, and with other accompanists, and is currently working with a 3-piece band called Buck Two 98. "I write and I play other songwriters' stuff, looking for the obscure and tasteful, mostly in the folk/americana genre." Buck Two 98 comes to us from Portland, Texas, down on the "third coast". Normally appearing as a trio, this dynamic acoustic group is made up of Brad Brown on acoustic and vocals, Mollly Richey on bass and vocals, and Tom Richey on lead acoustic and electric guitars. Brown's backgroud includes performing solo folk music, with influeces from Guy Clark to Jerry Garcia, and fronting country rock dance bands that strived for "that Billy Joe Shaver" type of Texas sound. Richey was performing with bands in London when he was 14, and has been providing tasteful leads ever since. His influences include Carlos Santana and SRV. Molly Richey plays strong bass guitar and has one of the "prettiest voices in Texas today". All three band members write and perform their own songs and "masterful covers". Look for a CD to come out in 2005!
