I’m going to try not to be biased, but Carolyn Wallace was born in Florida, which pleases one of the MTM co-founders, and shares a birthday with the other one. Setting that aside, the music will make you an instant fan, regardless of when or where you were born. Now calling Houston home, Wallace writes soulful songs that speak to the listener on multiple levels. Her songs can be taken on the superficial level and just enjoyed as excellent music, or you can pay close attention to the lyrics and get a connection with the deeper side of the song. Wallace’s arrangements vary from folk ballad to rock, using magnificent dynamic to accentuate each story. A true, clear, ethereal voice leads each cut with poise and a veracity that can only come from living out some of the experiences Carolyn Wallace writes about. Great songwriting, stellar poetry, excellent delivery, and superb arrangements make “MORE THAN FRIENDS” a best-buy. This disc gets very high marks for a debut project, and I hear there’s a second CD in the works. Get this one while you can, it’s only $11.99!
