Chris Lee’s lonesome harmonica opens “Time Is Wastin’ Me,” a sorrowful ballad of some poor lamenting sap who’s crying over lost love. That’s where the crying and the lamenting ends and the party starts. From the fade in on “Temptations,” the disc’s opening cut, to the twice-baked hidden track on the back side of “Cajun Woman,” Cypress has done a fine job with their 2001 release “MIGHT FINE DAY.” I heard so many Texas influences in this disc, from SRV to Floyd, both Pink and Tillman, and you’ll find refreshing diversity as you pop this puppy in your disc changer and let it roll. This is one of those ‘leave it on all day’ discs, with country-washed tunes and a couple of all out metal grooves. This is a talented group who has aligned their vast flavors into a Neapolitan sandwich of cross-cultural diversity. Good job. Clay Grant, Chris Lee, Randall Roberts, Michael Gross, Bubba Woolwine, and Mike Foulch appear as Cypress…..get that? Cypress! Skynyrd fans and ZZTop fans, Buffett fans and Tubbies, arise, your album is here. Get it today for only $13.99!
