Dan Crump
There's an old saying: "Don't light the firecracker if you don't want to hear the pop." In the case of Dan Crump's 2005 release "TRUTH IS" the adage would translate to "don't get this many fabulous pickers on one disc unless you want to make some waves." Crump will make plenty of waves with "TRUTH IS," an Ernie Wells production. This disc is quite capable of making a Texas superstar out of Dan Crump. Wells' production skills rival Mark Bright and Marty Williams (Rascal Flatts) as he includes Lloyd Maines, Floyd Domino, and Chip Dolan (yes THE Chip Dolan) in his list of performers. Crump pens most of the tracks on the disc and delivers each cut with precision. Wells pens a few including a highlight of the album "Walk On" which also includes the vocal talents of Teresa James. Somebody please remember this album at nomination time for the Texas Music Awards! It's award-worthy from top to bottom. You'll love the wah guitar work on "Love You Baby" and you'll smile big on "She Likes Shoes." Crump is one of the few to come along that has a real shot at the big time. Throughout this disc the sound is truly Texan with evidence of Nashville training. Let's all hope that as Crump enjoys his ride to the top he's always mindful that this disc, the one that made him famous, was a Houston, Texas production. Excellent country music sound, fabulous writing, masterful delivery, and a well-collected project, Crump's "TRUTH IS" should be your next purchase. If you're a DJ, it should be your next spin. Get it!
