Just when you thought it was safe…. Dog Men Poets are on the short list of bands that aren’t afraid to just lay it out there. If you’ve ever thought it, they say it in song. There’s an acoustic guitar and a beat box in the same band. Dangerous combination? You betcha! DMP is quick to thumb their noses at stereotypical society, singing about subjects that just don’t make the top 40 list in the corporate record world. They are, however, an extremely talented group that uses almost-rock, near-rap, pseudo-pop, and a tiny bit of barely-blues influence to get a very serious message out. The message is simply: Don’t take things so seriously! The band is non-stop fun and the album, “BIRTH OF THE COOL” is non-stop action from start to finish. Yes, there’s even a poem. You’ll hear behind-the-scenes sounds, too. Sometimes poignant, sometimes hilarious, this is one of the best-buys of the year. Try not to buy it for your pre-teens. They won’t understand the literary genius of it all. Get it today!
