Fantastic Enemy
Southeast Texas is known for producing fine musical acts. Fantastic Enemy is no exception. Their 2003 release “SEX + GUNPOWDER” is a collection of heady and artistic treasures chock full of the incessant groove of modern rock ‘n’ roll. I’m not sure how much roll is in today’s rock, but this band finds it, along with the shake and the rattle. Jammie Leigh is out front belting from those galvanized pipes of hers, piercing the music with inexorable accuracy, rarely screaming, but instead possessing sheer mastery of her razor sharp vocals. This music is best when played loud, and the rhythm section of Mike Bain on bass and Barry Uptigrove on drums give new meaning to “hittin’ the groove.” Steve Fitzner’s guitar work is the catalyst of Fantastic Enemy’s music, adding a blues lick now and then just to keep us all honest. This is a nice first project from a very popular Southeast Texas band who continues to expand their territory. Help spread the news by getting your copy today for only $13.99!
