Fantastic Enemy is going to blow the fu**ing doors down town. This is like old school rock/new age western, mixed in with a little eccentric outlaw rhythm. Keep the music flowin, n good luck! |

Fantastic Enemy's first offering, Sex + Gunpowder, sounds like one hand clapping as the other one rips you apart. The music is sometimes haunting, sometimes fierce, and sometimes, it moves you through the entire emotional gauntlet all at once. The vocals on tracks such as "Prayer In Silence" and "Song for -T" moved me in such a way that I almost didn't know how to respond. This music is many things, but above all, it is powerful and daring, like nothing I have heard in ages. I feel honored to have bore witness to this amazing work of art before the world latches on to this talented ensemble. Sex + Gunpowder is a very professional and strangely addictive work from a very fine band that still has everywhere to go, including up. |

I was so impressed by Fantastic Enemy, I had a hard time
believing this was their first venture into album-making. How often
do you find a group who have shunned the cookie-cutter image and managed
to create great music in so many different styles? It's rare- just
like this compilation. "Sex + Gunpowder" is entirely
individualistic and versatile. There is no one category this album
belongs in, since it seems to have it all: blues, funk, traditional
and alternative rock, and a little pop. These guys are confident
enough to try just about anything, and it all works beautifully.
Vocalist Jammie Leigh has a very distinct voice - smoky and accented with
an edge. |
