Gene is the real stuff. He is a truly soulful singer and a fine writer with a nice turn of phrase and an observant "writer's eye" for the telling detail. I recommend both of his CDs unequivocally. You won't make a better investment in music. |

"Prairie Dog Town" is another gift of great songs from one of Texas music's best kept secrets. Any one fan of Texas music should have a copy of PDT and Gene's first record, "Somewhere On A Train". Gene is one of the best singer-songwriters around. |

Gene is truly a talent. As a wordsmith, his lyrics range romantic and soul-stirring to side-splitting. His melodies combined with his deep, resonant voice can reach out and touch your heart or move your feet to dance. The big bassy sound of "Trouble in the Bottom Land" is my favorite. Hope he will keep 'em coming. Go, Gene! |
