Genuine Cowhide showcases Austin guitarist/producer Dale X Allen as frontman-writer guitarist-vocalist burning his brand on a tangle of modern yet retro roots-americana styles; from shuffle-twostep swing-rockabilly into spaghetti western pop and desert instrumental themes from screenplays not yet written. Think BR-549 meets the Sons of the Pioneers in a dusty cowtown on Saturday night and buys ‘em a beer after a Sergio Leone triple feature. Their sophomore CD, “PAINT THE PONIES” (double d ranch tunes) is a modern vision of the future of traditional, modern and alternative Cowboy & Western music written and performed roots/pop style by a seasoned Texas roadhouse band that likes to tear it up once in a while.
