Only a handful of Texas songwriters can truly capture life in song like Jack Saunders. Texans fell in love with the honest sounds of Saunders in the seventies and followed him loyally through the eighties and nineties. As the end of the nineties approached, Saunders released “BLUE SHADOWS” (White Cat) which simply continued the legend. The album reads like a who’s who of musicians as Saunders utilizes greats like Rick Richards, Roger Tausz, and quite possibly the world’s greatest guitarist, David Spencer. Saunders gets vocal help from greats like Greg Trooper, Tommy Lee Jackson and Kimberly M’Carver. The opening cut is “Texas In My Blood” and it’s every bit the transplanted Texan’s anthem. Saunders includes co-writes by some great friends including former performing partner Shake Russell. Jack Saunders exudes comfort and style with his smooth delivery and flawless performances. This album is a testament to what can happen when excellent songwriting meets masterful production. A must-buy for all Texas music fans.
