Hereafter let it be known that Jelly Jar shall become a genre unto itself, defying all standard and typical sounds, creating music that is truly Jelly Jar. Jelly Jar is the band, but the sound is indefinable through existing methods. If you make me define it in a word, that word will be "blue-swing-a-folk-grass." Don't expect to hear a conglomeration of songs in different genres, yet expect to hear multiple influences in every song. I can't remember the last song outside of New Orleans that had both a banjo and a clarinet. This band is a testament to what can happen if you hang around Austin long enough. Excellent vocal work, expert performances, and a masterful production from Texas Music Awards Nominee and Austin Music Awards winner, Rick Del Castillo. Famed food critic GraceAnn Walden wrote, "A perfect martini in a jelly jar is still a perfect martini." While her intentions were to imply that the perfection of something cannot be diminished by less than perfect packaging, her comments deserve adjustment. I would suggest "Listen to Jelly Jar and drink a martini… now that's perfect." This is one of the most artistic releases of 2004. The music is actually addictive, so be careful, but start now and enjoy being hooked on Jelly Jar!
