The first time I ever even heard of Jo Ann Guest was at one of her live performances. It was enough to sell me, so I came home and presented her material to the A&R Department. A real talent, but a lot of people have talent, right? Sure. But only a few have that special something that proves they can create quality songs, put together a great CD and still put on a a fantastic live show. Jo Ann has all that and more. After her live show, I went backstage to meet her and her songwriting partner, James Teat. What a pleasure. Find this Stephenville TX talent and see a show. You won’t be sorry. The CD is great listening. Some personal songs and some great commercial stuff, too. She croons, she sings about home, she rocks, and she even scats. Go figure. Her project has something that so many projects lack... passion. She is serious about her craft. Jo Ann teams up with James on Walk Thru The Fire for a great duet, offers us some dance tunes, and makes us reflect with songs like the title track, which chronicles the slow and deliberate death of the beauty of a river passing near her childhood home.
