A few years back, MTM Member David Fahl started a band. That might not otherwise be anything special, because many of us have started bands. Ah, but this one was different. David would eventually turn the project over to Marty Wells and company, but the band had a no-turning-back attitude and now Kenefick is on their way. I would like to comment that in all my years I’ve not seen a band pay so much thanks to a founding member who is no longer with the band. Kenefick’s 2001 release “HARD ROAD” is expertly produced by Adam Odor and includes an excellent performance by Lloyd Maines. Kenefick is now Marty Wells, who does most of the writing and handles much of the lead vocals, Quintin Watts, who also writes and carries some of the vocal work, drummer Keith Quinones, guitarist Glenn Byrd, and bassist Stephen Shirk. This CD is pure country music washed in a muddy Texas river and dried in the blistering Texas sun. The lyrics are well done and often speak only to Texans, such as those from Pasa “Get Down” dena. (You know who you are.) The arrangements are flawless and the project is a radio ready offering with high sales potential. Fans of Kenefick tend to be die-hard fans and their shows are fun and energetic. This is probably Joe Parsons’ favorite Texas act. If you don’t know what that means, find out. They’ll be your favorite, too, as soon as you get your copy. It’s here, right now, for only $13.49!
