Kim Townsend
Kim Townsend “JUST BECAUSE” ©2007 Pokey Records Review by Jinelle Boyd Well worth the wait, Kim's latest offering, JUST BECAUSE, is jam-packed with original songs that lean more toward that undeniable country music chip that Kim was born with! The result is pure magic. Kim surrounds herself with an A-list of fabulous musician friends that lend their talent to this project, including MTM members Pauline Reese and John Arthur Martinez, and of course the incomparable Gary P. Nunn, Lloyd Maines, and Larry Nye, just to mention a few. Take a few moments to listen to the clips below, and grab both of these offerings from Kim...you'll soon see what all the fuss is about! Kim Townsend “WAYWORN TRAVELER” ©2003 Pokey Records Review by Lucky Boyd Kim Townsend writes from the mere celebration of life’s many facets. Spinning a popular anecdote into a clever and humorous song or writing of the heartache of love lost shows the vast diversity of Townsend’s pen. Primarily immersed in the folk genre, Kim leans toward many flavors with each passing song encompassing influences from jazz to country. A true songstress, Townsend is nothing short of entertaining as she defies folk stereotypical delivery with a to-the-point curtness that makes you glad her debut CD is a fourteen cut album. “How I See You” is an instrumental offering that is screaming to be part of a film score. The title cut includes a forty year old recording of Townsend’s great grandfather singing the same song. Clever, poignant, and entertaining throughout, Townsend’s 2003 offering is a gem.
