If I had to sum up Laura's music in one word, it would have to be 'unique'. LJK displays the ability to maker her songs her own and immediately recognizable as hers. This, her second independent album is an expression of her growth and maturity. Her musicality and amazing vocals are evermore advancing and expressive. In touch with her emotions, Kauffman writes from the heart, producing the songs "You Never Say" and "Under Skin", both personal to her, but striking a chord in everyone. The beautiful "Love Gives You Wings" is reminiscent of lazy Sundays and I feel captures the contentment and happiness love brings. Kauffman's ability to be diverse in her writing is reflected in the bluesy "Melody Line" and the deep "In The Heat", both of which you can't help but move to. This album is a worthy sequel to Late Night Conversation Part I, and is moving, insightful, and complete. I am constantly surprised at Laura's consistent ability to expand her music and grow through and with it. I truly look forward to the next album, but until then, this CD will always be in my stereo and my car. |

This is a CD you'll be playing at every opportunity. Kauffman writes with such feeling and emotion, I simply can't play the CD enough. My favorite track would have to be "Under Skin" - beautiful melody, sexy chords, amazing voice. Kauffman has it all. This is one singer/songwriter who has a very bright future ahead of them. Nice Job. |
