Los Pacaminos Honorary Texans
In the 80’s Paul Young was considered a pop-idol and had a few hits including “Every Time You Go Away” and “Wherever I Lay My Hat.” While the latter was the lesser of the hits, it embodies Paul’s involvement in Los Pacaminos. Drew Barfield is more or less the team captain on this project and together with Young, and Jamie Moses, they round out the core of this seven member project. On board are four more amazing pickers: Melvin Duffy, Matt Irving, Steve Greetham, and Mark Pinder. This septet of UK residents has captured Texans with their brand of Tex-Mex music mindful of Fender, Sahm, and Meyers. That’s why we have bestowed upon them the title of ‘Honorary Texans’ and included them in the MyTexasMusic family. Expertly performed, masterfully produced and wonderfully written, this self-titled disc (Tornado Records) is a tribute to the troubadours of Southern Texas music. The tunes are danceable, and the disc is an easy listen. This is where Paul Young ‘lays his hat’ these days, but it is truly the partnership with Barfield and the others which makes this album special. This is a 2002 release with a timeless punch, making it a must-buy for Texas music fans. Get it today for only $13.99!
