From Day One that I have had the distinguished honor of hearing Marcus sing and play his guitar for me, I have always told him he has a real talent.  Since then, I have had alot more great listening pleasure with Marcus being the first not only to hear songs he has just written for only me but more great songs you'll be hearing very soon, I'm sure.  Don't just take my word for it because I'm Marcus' bride-to-be - listen to his CD and you'll also realize what a fabulous singer/songwriter Marcus truly is.

WOW!  Can this guy sing or what?  I had the distinguished opportunity to hear Marcus sing (in the raw, lol) just him and his guitar.  No back up, no studio, no band, just him.  Now, I have noticed most singers don't sound nearly as well live as they do on their albums since the studios remove the blemishes.  Kind of like a model, you see them in the magazine - gorgeous - then you see them in life - well, let's just say the photographs do an excellent job on painting the pictures.  But, Marcus does not hit in this category.  His voice as well as his music is the real deal.  You can hear a Waylon influence in his singing, but he does it his way and it is outstanding.  If you don't listen to this CD, well what can I say, you're missing out on a fabulous singer/songwriter.  Marcus, keep 'em coming!

Hill Country Texas and Trail To Monterrey are fresh, fun and true and heart felt Texas music.  Sounds like there is a little more coming from Smithville, than just Highway 71....

Good songwriting and a fine production on every track.  The cover version of "Chain Gang" is probably too Waylon oriented, maybe enough that it'll be tabbed as a "copy version" but it still has a fresh sound as the arrangement totally compliments Marcus's vocals.  "Hill Country Texas" and "Trail to Monterrey" really stand out.  Marcus does his own thing on "Monterrey" and after hearing the Pauline Reese version it's good to hear an alternate take on a song that could very well be Marcus' claim to fame.  What he's lacking vocally, Marcus really makes up for with his songwriting ability.  This music is all Texas and if you ever see Marcus David Kennedy live, you'll know that's what he's all about!!!
