His latest release, "MORE BEETS PLEASE" is a true gem, showcasing Mark's superb songwriting and ability to convey his energy so clearly. Smart singer/songwriters also know how to rally their peers, and Beets is no exception. MTM member Jack Saunders lends his talent to this project, as well as Kenyon White, the son of legend Saylor White, whose song "Crossroads" is covered beautifully here. This fine offering from Mark Beets will round out your Texas music collection perfectly. Beets pens the full compliment of this thirteen-cut treasure which ranges from the beautifully orchestrated “Remember Me” to the country-laden “Mary Ann” to “Favorite Son.” The latter reminds me of Roger Creager but with Tish Hinojosa’s band; totally cool. Mark Beets’ voice is a well-tuned instrument with enough diversity to please a broad spectrum of listeners. Beets has a blues side, too, as is apparent on “Lost And Found.” Nicely produced, well-written songs are abundant on “LONG AGO AND MANY DAYS” (White Cat) and you’ll be a Mark Beets fan as soon as you get the disc for only $13.99!
