Mark's songs are great. He has a great voice which he presents very well. I love the way he thinks when he's writing his songs. My favorite song on the album is #3, "Couldn't Stay"; it's obviously about a girl which makes it really sweet and I love the way his voice sounds while singing it. #1 I also love because it's talkin' about leaving a small town and starting a new life. No shame and blame in that...GREAT JOB Mark! I look forward to hearing more of your upcoming songs in the future. |

I love it. I got the CD after seeing Mark open for
Randy Rogers Band. Mark is a great talent. "321" is
a great song. Pretty much about Texas life, driving around in the
Hill Country. Before you say it sounds cliche, give it a listen
because it's not as typical as it sounds. "Ballad of Sheriff
Johnson" is my favorite tune on the CD. I don't know if it's
the harmonica that gives it it's appeal or the lyrical twist at the
end. But it begs to be a hit and will no doubt be on the Texas Music
Chart someday. (And hopefully the Billboard chart).
"Couldn't Stay" is an excellent song that merges lyrics and
music wonderfully. It's a song about a girl, of course, and you can
tell it's true. Writing that deep doesn't come from a made-up
story. "Mexico" is a bluesy, rock type of song. It
isn't too shabby either. Not my favorite on the album but it's
catchy and most likely a popular tune at shows. I'd suggest it to
anyone! |

The first song sounds a lot like the early days of the Great Divide - it has good lyrics and hearing the songs with a full band really supports them...My favorite song on this disc is #2, "Ballad of Sheriff Johnson" - this is the song that made me pick up the CD, besides #5, which, is to become one of those songs the drunk guy in the back will yell out 15 times during the first 20 minutes of the show, and keep on yelling till you play it at which time he will start requesting it again - you all know the guy! Ha ha - good luck. |
