I liked this album. It kicks off strong, with Keep Your Hands Off That Bottle, a song about whiskey and a broken heart that has a cool guitar intro that really grabs your ear. Then comes a slow country-blues duet, Halfway To Heaven, a sad song that's mostly acoustic. Darlene has a western-swing feel to it, with some jazzy guitar. Next is She Ain't Never Gonna Stay - a rocker - my favorite song on this album. This song really moves along, makes you want to jump up and dance, even though it's a sad song. It ends with Way Too Long - an apt title since it's about 7 minutes long; this last one reminds me of David Allen Coe just a little. A friend of mine in the dorm told me about Martin Paul - I'm glad she did. My only complaint is, it needs more songs. It sounds like it would be a fun show to see him live. My friend's sister saw him play on 6th Street back when she was in school here and says his band was good. That's how she got the CD. He also played with a blues band back then, too.
