Matt Davis has talent that tears down genre walls and brings fans together from different influences. Whether you’re a rock fan, love acoustic roots music or today’s alternative country music, there’s something for you here. Davis’ “MAGELLAN STREET SESSIONS” (River Bend Recordings) blends life-long influences into an energetic, yet comfortable sound. It’s great to see an artist avoid any ‘shock value’ strategies and let the music speak for itself. On the acoustic “Paint The Roses,” Davis shows he can write meaningful lyrics and then deliver them flawlessly. On “You Think” and “Nervous Wreck” Davis takes the rocky road and showcases the rougher side of this adept and cohesive band. The album is co-produced by fellow MTM member Kyle Hutton, and features a guest appearance by Roger Creager on harmonica. The music flow has a feel-good flavor on songs like “One More Chance” and “Never Mine.” This is an excellent debut project from this talented Texan.
