Mercury Legion
Parents, heed this warning… Oh, it’s not about the lyrics of Mercury Legion’s “IT’S A WONDERFUL LIFE,” (Cinque) you won’t have to shelter your children from anything too explicit. But there is a warning…. No, it’s not about any bad influences Mercury Legion may have on your fragile teenagers. Here’s the warning: don’t repress your children. Let them play. Let them express themselves. Mercury Legion is a perfect example of what years of repression and pinned up frustration can lead to. This extremely talented foursome takes an X-treme angle to getting their message across. The high energy metal-based music is layered with surprisingly clear lyrics for a myriad of positive messages. The band is quick to say those things you’ve always thought but were afraid to vocalize. Songs like “Kill The Pedophiles” and “Barbie Doll” actually tackle tough societal issues in a conservative vein. The band isn’t afraid to lean toward the nonsensical side of things, as they do on “No Pooky No!” and “Dolphins Taste Good.” This is one of the most entertaining CDs I’ve heard this year. The music is tight, the guitar work is blazin’ and every song is perfectly choreographed. John Klecker, Kurt Buske, Matt Otavka, and Bryce Fraser are on to something, instead of simply being ‘on something’ and that’s refreshing. Get the disc for only $13.99!
