Jazz, pop and a hint of funk wind through the debut offering of Monday Forecast. Ken Mathis and Lisa Gail Bruder have released "ADRIFT", and eleven-cut demonstration of how comforting music can get with keys, bass, and drums. Mathis composes eight of the tracks, with Bruder penning two, and the final is a co-write. Dominant piano melodies coupled with aggressive bass licks and perfectly matched percussion and strings make this album a great put-it-on-and-leave-it project. Talented across genre lines, Mathis and Bruder's passion for jazz is the force behind Monday Forecast. This duet is a popular attraction at brunches and jazz houses all over the Houston area, and the two can be seen as members of other bands in the area as well.
