This is music anyone can relate to. You don't have to be into Christian music to enjoy this CD, but if you are, you will love it that much more. I can't wait to hear his next CD - great job Rick! |

Now and then, a body of work gets lumped into a genre
and has to fight against the limitations a label/type can give. Rick
Busby's Soul Diving is a good example. It's "Contemporary
Christian", yes, but the best way to approach this album is not as
religious, but rather as spiritual. |

I am listening to the CD right now, and, it is one of my favorites. Rick Busby has put together a collection of songs that plays like a complete album, rather than a couple of good songs with a bunch of filler. While the lyrics on "Soul Diving" deal with spiritual issues at times, to label the CD as strictly a Christian CD is way too narrow a definition. It is truly a record that speaks to anyone living life on any terms, and many of the songs would fit comfortably into multiple radio formats. Mark Addison did a great job producing the record, keeping the songs sonically interesting while covering many different musical styles. The best thing about the CD is it gets better the more I listen to it. There is definitely something for everyone on the record. Busby sounds like so many different artists at different times, but in the end, he sounds like his own individual self. If you area lover of music, you will love "Soul Diving"; Standout tracks include the anthemic "Pray", the acoustic love song "Forever Tonight" and my favorite, the rockin' slice of heaven, "Just Like Angels". But this CD today, it will become a favorite for a long time. |
