Lubbock, Texas, is home to RiverWind, a band with one of the most promising sounds around. Fronted by author and attorney Jeff Nicholson, this band is not only one of the best cover bands in Texas, but their original work is also stellar. Their 2003 release “THE MILLENNIUM COLLECTION” is a four-cut EP that captures the true sound of RiverWind. All the tracks are penned by Nicholson but for a single co-write with the band’s guitarist, Michael Corbin. Nicholson’s voice is diverse and true, ranging from the Texas baritone to the pop alto as he winds flawlessly through the radio anthem “God Bless Robert Earl Keen” and croons through the well-written “Sierra Diablo.” Masterfully produced, this EP is worth every penny. This is one disc that will leave you wanting more RiverWind! The best way to get more RiverWind is to get their earlier release “HOTEL TEXAS” with twelve cuts of pure west Texas including their monster cover of Seger’s “Mainstreet.” If you saw this band live at Music City Texas Theater in Linden, then you know they put on a great show and you certainly know what I mean about their cover of Seger’s tune. You’ll hear from this band in the future, I’m sure of it.
