Review by Lucky Boyd
What do you get when A.V. Mittelstedt produces a project engineered by Lonnie Wright, packed full of great songs that are performed by pickers like Mittelstedt, Cornor, and Palusek? Well if those songs are written and sung by Scott W. Seibert, then you’ve got “SCOTTIEDUB: SONGER/SINGWRITER,” a fabulous release that gets to the very soul of country music. An expanded version of the debut introductory release, this disc is the unleashing of ‘ScottieDub,’ the millennium-minded alter-ego of Scott W. Seibert. The 2005 release contains twelve well-produced tracks, masterfully performed, and imbued with the traditions of great Country music. Seibert’s gospel slant on a couple of cuts makes the disc a multi-faceted project just ripe for pickin’ and puttin’ in your Texas music catalog. Excellent orchestration and smooth vocals make this an offering for Seibert to be proud of. I know Scott is interested in having his songs performed by others, so if you bump into any huge country music stars, send them over to Seibert’s house… trust me, he’ll be waiting with plenty of material. Most of the songs are radio friendly right now, and Seibert could very well become the next sought-after performer himself. I enjoyed the disc and I found the songwriting to be clever and insightful. You’ll enjoy this project and become the next Scott W. Seibert fan.
