Scotty Lee Shuffield rekindled his love affair with music a while back and “TEXAS MUSIC IN THE RAW” is the result. Shuffield’s unmistakable raspy voice wraps around fifteen original cuts recorded solo in the studio and captures a passionate delivery of the composer’s interpretations. Scotty Lee is a country/folk singer and his songs can lean either way based on the delivery, but each lyric is rich with imagery and grounded in the ‘naked’ truth heard in so many Texas songs. A perfect example is Shuffield’s ‘bare’ bones look at the Pyrrhocoris apterus, more commonly known as a red bug, in his hilarious song “Chigger.” Great stories and a gruff but sincere delivery make this a fun disc. Scotty Lee has been busy in 08, not only releasing another entertaining project - SIX STRING SAILOR - but he has also lent his talent for a good cause on the widely-acclaimed trop-rock compilation CD, ANGELS IN TROPICAL SHIRTS!
