The Smokey River Boys are a collection of Nashville bluegrass geniuses who have combined to continue the popularity of 'old-timey' music made popular by the movie, "O Brother, Where Art Thou," based loosely on Homer's classic tale of Odysseus. This disc, titled "SMOKEY RIVER BOYS SING O BROTHER,"(Platinum Plus Records/Universal Special Projects) is a 10 cut album of that 75-year-old bluegrass sound. The CD contains new songs penned in the classic bluegrass style, such as "O Brother," written by Robert Metzgar, Kimberly Cook, and Bob Zipkin. The Texas-born Metzgar produces this project which is co-produced by Tony Migliore and Chuck Haines. Metzgar also sings lead vocal on eight of the cuts, and pens four more in addition to the aforementioned co-write. The group reprises several songs from the movie including the traditional "I Am A Man Of Constant Sorrow" and the ethereal "Down In The River To Pray." You'll want to put this CD in your player and let it play all day. The perfect addition to your Texas music collection, get it today for only $5.99!
