Shawn Jennings and Southern Roots Band "BROKEN WINGS" ©2005 (Independently Released) Review by Lucky Boyd There's no question that Shawn Jennings and Southern Roots Band are having a good time with their music. Jennings and the gang take a serious approach to the music while making sure they enjoy the journey. Jennings pens most of the cuts on this album and is an adept songwriter. The music is pure Texas as guitars twang on Waylon-inspired tunes like "Lee County Line." Jennings' voice is Country gold as he gets the job done in fine fashion throughout the disc. This sophomore project is a maturation for the band and their music. The follow up to "I NEED A MARGARITA" exposes the true talent of Shawn Jennings and his faithful followers. The band has a great technical approach to the music, remaining true to the roots that brought them to this point. You'll love "Never Gave In," as it is one of the best story songs I've heard in some while. These are two very entertaining discs from a hard-working, fun-loving collection of talented performers. You'll quickly become a fan.
