Texas High Life “YELLOWBIRD” ©2007 Independent Review by Jinelle Boyd As I listen to “YELLOWBIRD”, the sophomore release from Texas High Life, I’m instantly transported to a Texas dance hall on a hot Saturday night, drinking cold long-necks and having the time of my life. This CD has that “feel” – the one that makes you glad to be alive, and even more stoked to have been turned on to one of Texas’ hottest new emerging bands. For that, you’re welcome. Blake Myers, Mitch McBain, Cory Pendleton, Kevin Binder, and Derek Hounsel make up the band roster, and their “roadhouse rock” sound suits them beautifully. Produced by Phil Pritchett (www.trinidadworldrecording.com) , the album is sure to become a contender on the Texas music charts. I wish we had the debut album to offer you here (not sure why we don’t - wassup with dat Blake!), but I can only imagine that these guys keep getting better and better – it’s in their nature. Meantime, pick up “YELLOWBIRD” – you’ll be glad you did, trust me.
