Texans are graced with the Canadian duo of John and Michelle Law each year as they tour the Lone Star State with their fabulous brand of roots music. The Laws offer two titles here, the first being "TWO" (AML Records), a ten-cut treasure penned by the pair, and the second being "ESTIMATED TIME OF REVIVAL" (AML), another ten-track gem. "ESTIMATED TIME OF REVIVAL" is a 2000 release which showcases the incredible talent of this duo. Michelle's voice is crisp and clear like a mountain spring on a cool morning. You'll hear very little vibrato from this true instrument voice, and Michelle holds her crystal clear notes to perfection. An occasional tone will remind you of Tish Hinojosa as Michelle takes full command of each note and phrase, inputting emotion and dynamic that sell the story to perfection. When it comes time for Michelle's voice to blend with John's, it's flawless. The harmonies are unassuming and never overstated, but ever present and remarkable. John's voice is velvet smooth with a quality that makes you feel comfortable much like your favorite James Taylor song always did. There's a bluegrass feel to the music, but the blend of folk and traditional roots music make for a refreshing mix that can only come from being Texan at heart. We'll call them Texanadians. The 2004 release "ANOTHER ROAD" brings The Laws to new heights as they continue to pull at the heart strings of Texans everywhere.
