Barry Kooda is a hard working musician, and a hard worker for musicians and performers. Kooda keeps time working for the I.A.T.S.E. Local 127 in Dallas, which keeps him around stage performances all the time. Barry Kooda has come a long way from his punk-rocking past to his hefty regional following as a country performer. His approach to performing is quite different from the image captured by Rolling Stone magazine in 1978, in which Kooda was caught on stage nibbling on a dead fish. Oh well. Now he’s writing great country songs that speak to a broad group of Texans, whether directly or in fantasy. One such song is the in-your-face tale of a guy accepting his girlfriend’s breaking up with him, and at the end of his concession speech to her, he says, “Oh, by the way, I won the lottery.” This story can be heard in Kooda’s song, “Texas’ Newest Millionaire,” on his new CD Crossin’ The Line (Big Iron). Songs of truth and life are the signature of this project, such as the working man’s lament, “90%.” Confident guitar, a great country voice, and above par instrumentation mark this as a great collection for Texas music fans. Kooda has performed with a variety of bands over his career, perfecting his on-stage persona, as well. Get his CD today for only $9.99!
