Sometimes songwriters beg for collaboration and it's not always successful. Big Lizard Boys have beaten the odds. Balladeers Mike Crippen, Bill Aspinwall, and MTM member Mike Darnell each bring their talents to this project. Beautiful guitar work and undulating melodies are the order of the day on "PICK YOURSELF UP." Fellow MTMers T.C. Smythe and Jeff Duncan also appear on this twelve-cut Jack Saunders production. (Saunders also performs.) Most of the songs are light and happy with almost no hint of gloom throughout the album. There's a Fogelberg/Weisberg feel to many of the cuts, but a favorite has to be the jovial moaner "Mean Joe Turner."
