"A TEXAS STATE OF MIND"

Bill Schereck saw the Sixties. The musical influences from those times are evident in Schereck's songs. While he's taken lessons from each decade since, yes even the Seventies, the bottom line is that Schereck's music is a blend of all he's learned with the strength that only the Sixties could have taught him. The 2005 release is "A TEXAS STATE OF MIND" and this disc is a great listen. Schereck's self-studio recording is full of great lyrics, well-crafted arrangements, and excellent harmonies. There are a couple of songs that lean toward country, but even those songs have traditional folk undercurrents as Schereck delivers crisp clean lyrics with his smooth comfortable voice. The rockin' side of Schereck comes out on "The Roadie Song" recorded in 1974 as the then-youngster belts out a Southern Rock roadhouse kicker. The final cut is in Spanish, showing even more of Schereck's diversity. Bill Schereck is a talented singer and writer, as well as an accomplished guitarist. He had a little help from Ian Dickson on this album, but for the most part it's all Schereck, and it's alright.
