Bob, you will be missed.

Review by Lucky Boyd
A resurgence of traditional country music is taking place in Texas. One of the leaders of the charge is Bob Reed. But for the digital nuances you might recognize, or the modern tone in some of Reed's lyrics, it would be difficult to know just from listening which decade these songs are from. Typical of Texas songwriting is Reed's blend of heritage-driven songs in contemporary country arrangements. Atypical, though, is Bob Reed's ability to deliver a distinctive and recognizable sound. Younger listeners will rejoice in Reed's newness and seasoned fans will revel in his nostalgic flair. Reed's silky smooth voice takes you back to a time when the lyric and the melody mattered more than the slick tricks of the Nashville vocal jugglers of today. Straight forward and masterful are the adjectives of Reed as he slips comfortably into each song with an ease usually reserved for your favorite faded jeans. Reed's writing is timely and solid as he pens all twelve cuts on the 2006 release. A little swing, a little boot-scoot, and some powerful ballads make this a home-run for Reed. Even in today's market, there are some radio cuts on the disc that should treat Reed well. As for the avid music fan, this is one of those discs you can leave in the player for days at a time.
