The Brookhaven band has been together for over a year. It began when lead singer/songwriter Bill Jones began a search for talented musicians to compose some of the 100 songs he had written. At first it was slow, and they did it without sponsorship. When the company Bill worked for heard a demo, they were ready to jump on board, and thus began the "Roughcuts" project, as was the first name picked out for this band. Roughcuts eventually aquired Lead guirarist Roby Scott from Grandview, Texas, and Drummer Dempsey Pullen from Kopperl, Tx. Dempsey decided to pursue a truck driving career, so Bill hired Shawn McGonnagill to play drums. As the months passed in early 2003, lead/rhythm guitarist David Palmer (an attorney in Ft. Worth, who also plays with Dirty South Band) and Bass player Trent McAlister were added to the Roughcuts band. Things happen for a reason, or so they say, and Bill decided he was tired of driving an eighteen wheeler, and thus changed careers. Doing this lost
Roughcuts sponsorship from the previous company.
Being the hard-nosed cowboy he is, Bill decided to not let this stop him and his band from producing music, so in August of 2004, "Brookhaven" became the name of the band formerly known as "Roughcuts," and the music goes on.
First Street Audio has been a saving grace in the Brookhaven project. Producer Bart Rose has recorded some of Brookhaven's new music, and the boys in the band are hard at work on a new album, to be released A.S.A.P. The current band members are still the same as the old band, Bill Jones (Wild Bill as his friends call him, as well as the tatoo on his right arm) lead vocals/songwriter. The bass guitar is played by Trent McAlister, formerly a drum major at Cleburne, Texas High School, lead guitarist Roby Scott was formerly drum major at Grandview, Texas High School (that's cool, huh?). David Palmer plays rhythm and lead guitar, and is also an attorney in Fort Worth Texas. Shawn McGonnagill plays drums for Brookhaven. Shawn also own Lawn Works in Cleburne, Texas, and is a firefighter in Cleburne, and Alvarado. When he can, John Hoffman(Euless, Texas) plays fiddle with the band.
