Dana Jacobson is living a truly blessed life with a great family, a law practice, and as a Lt. Colonel in the US Air Force Reserves. By the way, Dana Jacobson is also one of the finest contemporary Christian artists you will ever hear. Jocobson’s current offering is “COVER ME, LORD” and it contains ten cuts of pure gold. Dana penned the album over a span of several years and his diversity is equally spanned. From the aria-like “I Know” to the Jamaican feel of “Run, Zaccheus,” Jacobson uses his mastery of pop ballads, native rhythms and vivacious vocal arrangements to summon joy and praise God. (Editor’s note: While I can say with some degree of certainty that Zaccheus was not Jamaican, he would be very proud that his humble story was told in this manner, increasing the possibility that one more soul might heed its message.) This is truly a Spirit-filled project, appealing to the senses on many levels. Jacobson’s vocal work on “Holy, Holy, Holy/Thank You, Jesus” rivals the harmonies of Point Of Grace, and his solo vocals are true and inviting, making him less than an arm’s length from greats like Michael W. Smith and Bob Carlisle. As I am often prone to say when great Christian music comes along, you may not walk in the way of Christianity, or you may be a Christian whose relationship with Christ has diminished, but nothing will bring you to your spiritual center like good music. Dana Jacobson’s disc is not only a wonderful, embracing way to learn some of the teachings of Jesus Christ, but it is an altar call to those who may have lost their way. In any case, this album lifts its eyes to the beholder, stretches out its arms, and says, “Welcome home.” Get the disc today for only $13.99!
