Richard Bowden is the alphabetically leading member of the famous comedy team Pinkard and Bowden who had a great career throughout the 80's. Their songs are legendary among connoisseurs of comedic genius. Now performing monthly at Music City Texas Theater for his hometown congregation in Linden, Texas, Bowden has released a collection of tunes for the "comedically starved." Now I consider Richard Bowden to be a good friend so I wanted to make sure I gave his new CD "BIG BAD JOHNSON" a proper and solemn review. I listened intently to every single note and lyric with a discerning ear. I searched the entire album for any sign of social redeeming value. Couldn't find any. I listened for any song that I would be proud to play at the next family sit-down dinner. There aren't any. I began to plead with the album to enlighten me with some wisdom and a cure for world hunger. Nope. I read the liner notes hoping to find some formula for relieving the burden on American taxpayers. It' ain't there. I even tried using the disc as a coaster and my table got wet anyway. So I began to ask myself, "What can I say about this disc made by my dear friend Richard Bowden?" Well, just that I laughed my ass off. Get it today. Footnote: As stated on the back of this CD, "Advise all present of the following warning: Heterosexual men, homosexual men and women, male country singers, redneck women, Elvis, midgets, alcoholics, pot smokers and Barry Manilow - you will be discussed, in a lyrical sense, within the content of this CD." And he ain't kiddin', folks! We suppose he could have also added "Uptight people with no sense of humor"…...this is one twisted pretzel!
